Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Thermal Analyst to join our space systems engineering team in Palm Bay, FL. You will lead thermal design, analysis, and test of optical payloads for harsh space environments, mentoring other analysts and using Thermal Desktop with FEA tools.

Responsibilities include system-level thermal design, design reviews, and interaction with cross-functional teams to ensure mission success.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 6 years’ experience, or a master’s with 4 years, or 10+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
3+ years using thermal analysis tools (Thermal Desktop required, FloTHERM optional).
3+ years leading a multidisciplinary mechanical engineering team through system requirements, design, analysis, testing, and delivery.
Experience performing thermal analysis of mechanical and electronic systems in space environments.

Responsibilities

System-level thermal design & development for space-based environments.
Thermal design & analysis of hardware including structural components and electronics packaging.
Create and analyze concepts with thermal analysis software and FEA.
Prepare analysis docs and present results to leadership and customers.
Lead design reviews (PDR, CDR, TIM) and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
