Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Lead Thermal Engineer to head spacecraft-level thermal design, modeling, and analysis for advanced space missions. The role involves defining architectures, budgets, and verification across multiple orbital environments at a senior level.

The position requires extensive experience with Thermal Desktop and TVAC-related validation, mentoring engineers, and collaboration with systems engineering and hardware teams.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering with 9+ years of experience; graduate degree preferred with 7+ years, or 13+ years if no degree.
• 5+ years of professional experience using Thermal Desktop.
• Experience in thermal design and analysis for space environments/products.
• 2+ years as IPTL or providing technical leadership to an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Lead spacecraft-level thermal design, architecture, and requirements for high-reliability space vehicles.
• Develop detailed thermal models for all mission phases and environmental conditions.
• Create and validate thermal control hardware including radiators, coatings, heat pipes, and insulation.
• Own thermal budgets and flow-down requirements to payloads and subsystems.
• Mentor engineers and lead cross-functional teams in thermal engineering processes.
