Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a Telecom Technician 3 to install, inspect, terminate, test, and troubleshoot telecommunications systems across commercial projects.

You will lead a crew of five or more technicians and apprentices, ensuring high-quality cable installations, safety compliance, and timely execution. The role requires reading plans, managing look-ahead plans, and coordinating with project teams to deliver reliable network infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in commercial communications industry
• Must be 18 years of age
• High School diploma or GED required
• Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Pass background check and drug test
• Reliable transportation to jobsite
• Ability to read plans and specifications
• Strong time management and organization skills
• Presents a safety-first approach to work
• Provide basic tools from provided tool list before first day

Responsibilities

• Install various types of Low Voltage Cable.
• Install, inspect, terminate, test, and troubleshoot ISP/OSP telecommunications systems (Fiber Optics, Cat5, 6, 6A).
• Survey and document existing telecommunications infrastructure with drawings/as-builts.
• Sketch rack and floor elevations.
• Participate in design document reviews and project planning.
• Train and supervise apprentices in cable installation from TR to WAO.
• Maintain accurate as-built drawings and keep them updated weekly.
• Perform QA checks on team work to ensure compliance with standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and secure tools daily.
