Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Staff Technical Writer in Plymouth, MI to own the technical content strategy for Rivian's service network. You will write and maintain service manuals, bulletins, and labor standards across Rivian's vehicle programs, partnering with Diagnostics, Quality, and Service Lab teams.

You will mentor other writers, drive AI-enabled authoring improvements, and ensure consistent naming and classification across documentation.

Qualifications

• Translate complex engineering information into clear, actionable content.
• Develop and maintain service manuals, repair procedures, and labor standards.
• Review CAD models, drawings, and BOMs to support procedures.
• Manage complex doc delivery across vehicle programs and timelines.
• Mentor other technical writers and promote standards.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary technical content owner for vehicle systems; author/edit/maintain repair procedures.
• Lead creation of service bulletins, field actions, campaigns, and recalls; coordinate across teams.
• Own labor time standards; validate steps and time-study methods with Service Lab.
• Define naming conventions and classifications for service parts and procedures.
• Collaborate with Technical Illustration to scope graphics and diagrams.
• Manage complex concurrent documentation in Jira; track progress and dependencies.
• Synthesize field feedback and usage data to identify gaps and improve clarity.
• Champion standards, structured content, and AI-assisted tools.
• Mentor writers and share best practices in CAD review and authoring methodologies.
• Represent Service Documentation in cross-functional reviews for design changes.
