Job summary

MCGARITY CONSULTING GROUP seeks an expert editor for a federal Section 508 accessibility program. This fully remote role may require occasional on-site work in the Washington, D.C. area, with work hours 7:30am–6:00pm ET, Monday–Friday.

The contract spans base year with option years, supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting. The editor will ensure plain language, active voice, and accessible content across technical resources, guides, and executive communications, tailored to diverse

Qualifications

• Outstanding grammar, spelling, punctuation, and written command of English.
• Three years of editing experience.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt tone and style to a particular audience's sensitivity.
• Experience editing technical or compliance material for mixed technical and executive audiences.
• Accessible document production: headings, reading order, alt text, accessible tables, and tagged PDFs.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical editing for communications, web content, and other technical resources, ensuring plain language, active voice, detail, and organization.
• Edit accessibility guidance written by specialists for non-specialist audiences: managers, contracting personnel, web teams, content authors, and executives.
• Adapt tone and register to audience and subject sensitivity for developers, program directors, and senior executives.
• Support recurring reporting: editing monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance reporting and leadership briefings with short turnaround times.
• Maintain consistent quality across authors over multiple years for deliverables.
• Ensure written deliverables meet Section 508 standards for electronic content.
