Job Description
Responsibilities
- Review, establish, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications to ensure code compliance, customer specifications are met, and for optimization of designs linked to required code, contract requirements, and manufacturability.
- Organize, facilitate and lead ASME and other code compliance audits. Work collaboratively with the Quality team to ensure quality systems are compliant with the ASME code, ISO9001-2015, and other standards.
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, and design teams to prevent compliance issues, review customer specifications, and support RFQ and proposal preparations.
- Provide consultations on engineering calculations, code specifications, and auditing of engineering outputs, especially for high-profile designs.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams.
- Participate in planning and executing system migrations, integrations, and updates.
- Analyze and provide input on compliance with standards like CRN (Canada), PED (Europe), and others, managing approval processes accordingly.
- Research new markets, determine ability to meet requirements, and obtain necessary approvals and certifications.
- Monitor standards revisions and engineering changes to ensure ongoing product compliance.
- Support on-site assessments and respond to queries from third-party inspectors, regulatory agencies, and customers.
- Work with manufacturing to improve processes and develop operational procedures and best practices.
- Provide technical support to internal and external users/customers.
- Lead pre-manufacturing meetings for complex orders, supporting operational teams to ensure code compliance.
- Ensure technical capabilities are scoped, implemented, maintained, and compliant.
- Participate in the company's quality and EHS programs and perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Discipline with 4+ years’ relevant experience or associate’s degree with 7+ years relevant experience.
Qualifications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet team expectations.
- Support of company policies, safety rules, and regulations.
- Basic computer literacy and skills in reading blueprints, writing, and simple math.
- Effective communication skills.
- Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) and Professional Engineer designation preferred.
- Member of American Welding Society preferred.
- Experience in pressure vessels and/or steel manufacturing is a plus.
