Position Details

This is a position with grade 14.

Reporting Line

This position reports to the Regional Service Manager - South.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Senior Demand Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for Demand Field Service in Process Automation Energy Industries Service. Your duties include performing service according to ABB standards, working closely with customers and ABB teams, and acting as the technical point of contact. The role requires working independently and as part of a team near Houston, TX or Baton Rouge, LA. The work model is: #LI - Remote.

You will contribute to the Process Automation Energy Industries Division in Houston, TX or Baton Rouge, LA, mainly accountable for:

  1. Providing site service to ensure safe and efficient plant operation using ABB 800xA/AC800M Distributed Control System.
  2. Handling all periodic, routine, preventive maintenance, and shutdown support, with additional support from ABB Technical and Advanced Services as needed.
  3. Troubleshooting hardware and software issues in distributed control systems and managing technical support requests to optimize system performance.
  4. Maintaining customer databases by logging calls and support provided.
  5. Suggesting ABB solutions to enhance system performance and expand value-added services.
  6. Communicating effectively with site stakeholders to meet or exceed expectations.
  7. Responding promptly to customer inquiries and maintaining follow-up systems to ensure effective technical advice.
  8. Supporting hardware and software upgrades, system modifications, and additions, both online and offline.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Computer Science, Automation, or Process Control, or a relevant combination of education and experience.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft, networking, cybersecurity, and ABB 800xA/AC800M systems is a plus.
  • Experience in DCS system maintenance, configuration, and process control.
  • Travel required - 80%.
  • Fluent English speaker and valid driver’s license.
  • Legal work authorization in the US.
