American Family Insurance seeks a Sr. Technical Program Manager in its Personal Lines organization to own end-to-end delivery for cross-functional capabilities built on Guidewire, working at the intersection of Product, Pricing, Data & AI, and Digital & Customer Experience.

You will be a senior individual contributor who translates between engineering, product, and business to move initiatives from inception to production.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering complex, multi-team technology initiatives.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, release governance, and security/compliance checkpoints.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for technical and business audiences.
• Experience managing cross-functional dependencies, risks, and trade-offs in large organizations.
• Travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and lead new programs from scratch — driving scope definition, work breakdown, and system impact assessment across teams and domains.
• Own increment-based planning for initiatives, building cross-team program plans that reflect dependencies and risks.
• Serve as the technical bridge across teams, translating between engineering, product, and business.
• Participate in architecture and design discussions, identifying delivery risks and ensuring enterprise standards.
• Drive structured stakeholder communication and executive reporting, keeping appropriate people informed.
• Maintain program-level risk, assumption, issue, and dependency tracking; drive resolution with urgency.
• Guide teams through plan deviations, diagnose root causes, surface options, and maintain momentum.
• Coordinate release readiness across engineering and quality teams with quality gates and security checks.
• Monitor program-level delivery metrics to surface trends and inform prioritization.
• Develop long-term capability roadmaps aligned to business priorities.
