Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a Lead Guidewire Developer to provide technical leadership for the Guidewire Commercial Lines PolicyCenter platform in a hybrid Boston/Madison setting. The role drives design, modernization, and operational excellence while mentoring engineers and aligning technical work with business goals.

You will report to the Senior Manager Engineering and collaborate across architects, product teams, and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter in development, solution design, support, or technical leadership roles strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting complex enterprise applications.
• Knowledge of Guidewire BillingCenter, ClaimCenter, integrations, and modernization initiatives.
• Experience leading technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and solution planning efforts.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies, automation, observability tools, and modern engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead for the Guidewire CLPC platform and provide leadership for complex solutions.
• Lead solution design, technical reviews, and engineering decision-making to ensure scalable and secure architectures.
• Collaborate with architects, product teams, engineering leaders, and business stakeholders to align solutions with objectives.
• Drive platform reliability, resiliency, performance, maintainability, and operational excellence.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and knowledge sharing.
