Job summary

WSP is seeking a Technical Director Electrical Engineering, Renewables to lead the Renewables Business Unit's engineering scope across the US, with flexible locations including Arlington, VA; Houston, TX; Denver, CO, or remote within the US.

The role focuses on client engagement, technical leadership for solar, wind, and BESS projects, cradle-to-grave ownership, and mentoring staff while advancing project delivery, QA/QC, and process standardization across the RBU.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 12+ years of post-education electrical engineering experience in renewables.
• Proficiency with electrical engineering principles and BOP design.
• Experience with infrastructure planning and design across civil, P&C, SCADA, and telecom.
• Experience mentoring staff.
• Strong knowledge of engineering codes, regulations, and compliance.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with diverse audiences.
• Ability to lead mid-to-senior teams and QA/QC.
• Ability to coordinate with clients, regulators, and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Grow Owner’s Engineer capabilities within the Renewables Business Unit.
• Lead cradle-to-grave OE opportunities and oversee client engineering interfaces.
• Drive cradle-to-grave project delivery and add value through process improvements.
• Identify business cases for Asset Lifecycle/Repowering with client interface.
• Participate in QA/QC activities related to EOR projects.
• Standardize project delivery and processes across the RBU.
• Support GCC initiatives by coordinating with global offices.
• Provide project leadership for designs and studies for solar, BESS, and wind facilities.
• Review electrical infrastructure plans for compliance with codes and regulations.
• Develop construction plans, specs, and cost estimates; manage budgets.
