Job summary

Citigroup Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Lead Counsel 1 for its Technology and Operations team within the global Technology, Operations & Privacy law group.

The role provides broad commercial legal support on technology agreements, AI usage, outsourcings, and related contracts across North America and globally. The position emphasizes pragmatic legal counsel, risk-aware decision making, and collaboration with Legal, Risk, Compliance, and business partners across Citi.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of proven general commercial transactional experience, ideally with multinational or financial services exposure.
• Experience with banking regulations and complex deals.
• Strong written and oral communication, negotiation skills, and ability to build trusted relationships.
• Effective leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and relationship management skills.
• Proven ability to apply sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
• Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree.
• Member of Florida bar in good standing or eligibility for in-house counsel within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide Citi businesses with legal counsel on technology transactions and related commercial contracts.
• Evaluate technology transactions applying industry standards, laws, and regulatory guidelines with risk awareness.
• Collaborate across businesses and control functions to ensure coordinated outcomes.
• Contribute thought leadership on strategic planning and regulatory developments.
• Identify and manage legal, regulatory, and reputational risk in collaboration with ICRM & Risk.
• Negotiate and draft technology agreements, software licenses, SaaS/Hosted/Cloud services for North America and global use.
• Escalate complex issues and ensure compliance with Citi policies and standards.
