Job summary

BDO USA is seeking a Tax Managing Director in the United States, focusing on advising clients on complex tax matters, supervising engagements, and leading the tax practice within the firm’s leadership team. The role emphasizes client relationship management, strategy development, and cross-functional collaboration.

The position requires extensive tax experience, professional certifications, and strong communication and leadership skills to guide teams and engage with federal/state authorities.

Qualifications

• Ten (10) or more years of prior relevant tax experience or equivalent in public accounting, private industry, or consulting.
• CPA, Attorney, or EA designation preferred or required depending on role.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills.
• Capacity to work well in a team environment.
• Executive presence and ability to act as primary client contact for preparation and resolutions.

Responsibilities

• Tax compliance: ensure client and team compliance with authorities and Firm policies.
• Manage engagements to achieve engagement management metrics.
• Provide hands-on client service delivery and oversight per TQM policies.
• Lead research and reporting on tax issues with clear methodology and concise results.
• Apply knowledge of ASC 740, FAS 109, FIN 48 and international tax considerations to provisions.
• Develop and implement tax strategies to maximize client benefits and minimize taxes.
• Supervise and mentor associates and managers; provide performance feedback.
