Job summary

WithumSmith+Brown PC in the United States seeks a senior tax leader to oversee complex high-net-worth returns, fiduciary, gift, and estate tax work, ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategic planning.

You will conduct advanced tax research, draft technical memoranda, design wealth-preservation strategies, manage client relationships, mentor staff, and collaborate with partners on engagements and development initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• CPA, JD, LLM, or MST certification required.
• Minimum of 8+ years of professional services experience.
• Knowledge of the technology/startup and emerging growth sector is a plus.
• Demonstrated strategic leadership, defining market opportunities, and developing strategic plans and processes.
• Experience creating and deploying best‑of‑breed business development and relationship management practices.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills, with the ability to organize and lead meetings with senior executives.
• Strong leadership, project management, and multitasking abilities with excellent organization.
• Track record of managing time, meeting deadlines, and leading teams.
• Experience in formal sales process deployment, use, and training.
• Ability to be a resource across the firm, uphold an environment of accountability, and constructively monitor performance.
• Attention to detail, creative problem‑solving, conflict resolution, and outstanding relationship management skills.
• Solution‑oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead the review of complex high‑net‑worth individual, fiduciary, gift, and estate tax returns.
• Conduct advanced tax research and draft technical memoranda addressing complex issues.
• Design and implement tax planning strategies that optimize wealth preservation and succession planning.
• Serve as a trusted advisor, managing client relationships through proactive communication and strategic consultations.
• Mentor and supervise staff, fostering technical development and accountability.
• Collaborate with partners and senior leadership on client engagements and business development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with evolving federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Contribute to process improvement, leveraging technology and best practices.
• Engage in firm‑wide initiatives, including innovation projects and continuing education programs.
