Job summary

BDO USA is seeking a Tax Managing Director in Private Client Services who will lead tax engagements for high net-worth individuals and families. You will supervise a team, review complex returns, and serve as the primary client contact, guiding tax planning, compliance, and advisory services.

Strong leadership, communication, and business development skills are essential. The role requires extensive experience in private client services, supervisory capabilities, and a track record in public

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred.
• Master’s degree in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
• Ten (10) or more years of experience in accounting, finance, or law required.
• Expertise in the private client service area required.
• Prior supervisory experience required.
• Experience working in public accounting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads tax and consulting engagements and mentors the team in addressing client needs.
• Acts as the primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions.
• Reviews complex tax returns (individual, trust, estate, S‑Corp, foundation, partnership, gift) and provides feedback.
• Directs communication with government agencies for highly complex matters.
• Conducts advanced tax research and develops sound recommendations for PCS leadership, clients, and advisors.
• Expands understanding of tax concepts through client engagements and current developments.
• Prioritizes and reviews work to keep engagements on track.
• Assists with PCS/firm contributions including billing, recruiting, attendance, and CPE.
• Builds and maintains relationships with BDO professionals and external sources.
• Presents complex strategies to clients and prospective clients when required.
• Advises clients on tax implications and alternative courses of action.
