Job summary

Ursa Major is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to lead safety analysis for propulsion systems and rocket engines in a high-security aerospace environment. You will ensure compliance with safety standards across design, test, and operations, while coordinating with regulators and program management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 8+ years of Systems or Safety Engineering experience.
• Eligibility to obtain U.S. government security clearance.
• On-site role between Berthoud and Galeton, CO with occasional overnight shift.

Responsibilities

• Analyze hardware schematics for fault tolerance and safety compliance.
• Maintain and evolve ESMP; review tests and procedures for safety controls.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to embed safety throughout the lifecycle.
• Coordinate with DoD and DOT for explosives shipping approvals.
• Prepare Safety Assessment Reports and lead Safety Reviews.
