Ursa Major seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to drive safety, reliability, and risk management for its propulsion systems. You will own system safety strategy, perform FMEA/FHA analyses, and coordinate with design, operations, and program teams to ensure safe, compliant rocket motor operation.

You will also manage the relationship with DoD Safety Review Boards and help shape mission assurance across programs.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
• At least 4 years in system safety, mission assurance, or systems engineering.
• Experience with solid rocket motors, ignition systems, propulsion, or defense aerospace programs.
• Experience with risk analysis methods (FMEA, FHA, probabilistic risk assessment).
• Familiarity with aerospace standards (MIL-STD-882).
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Eligible for U.S. Secret Clearance.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and implement mission assurance processes for reliability, safety, and performance.
• Coordinate with Weapon Safety Boards and prepare motor qualification plans and test reports.
• Lead hazard classification planning and approval for motor shipments and fielding.
• Maintain risk registers and present risk findings internally and externally.
• Work with design and product teams to reduce product risk and define safety requirements.
• Perform system-level failure analyses (FMEA, FHA) to inform design and risk tracking.
• Plan end-to-end product lifecycle including handling restrictions and demilitarization.
• Assist with flight test range safe execution planning.
• Lead failure investigations and reliability assessments for motor products.
• Other duties as assigned.
