Job summary

Ursa Major is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to ensure propulsion systems meet strict safety standards. You will analyze hardware, review procedures, and lead safety programs across the lifecycle from design to decommissioning.

Ideal candidates have deep system safety expertise and the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance, with on-site responsibilities in Berthoud and Galeton, Colorado. Overnight shifts may occur quarterly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 8+ years of Systems or Safety Engineering experience.
• Experience in System Safety Engineering, Explosive Safety and related disciplines.
• Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. government security clearance.
• On-site role splitting time between Berthoud, CO and Galeton, CO.

Responsibilities

• Analyze engineering hardware and schematics for fault tolerance and safety compliance.
• Maintain and evolve the ESMP program to meet safety requirements.
• Review test procedures and protocols to ensure safety controls are in place.
• Collaborate across teams to mitigate hazards throughout the product lifecycle.
• Coordinate with management and regulatory bodies from initiation to decommissioning.
• Oversee EHS training and explosives training programs per requirements.
• Lead safety assessments and drive program safety briefs for stakeholders.
