Job summary

Ursa Major is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to lead safety efforts for advanced propulsion systems, ensuring safety and reliability from design through decommissioning.

You will collaborate with engineering teams, review tests and procedures, and coordinate with regulators and program management to embed safety controls across the lifecycle. A U.S. security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 8+ years' experience in Safety/Systems Engineering or related field.
• Experience in Explosive Safety, software/firmware, electrical safety, or related disciplines.
• Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Analyze hardware and schematics for fault tolerance and safety compliance.
• Maintain the ESMP and radiation protection program (ALARA).
• Lead safety initiatives across propulsion programs and engage regulators.
