Job summary

Ursa Major is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to ensure rocket engines and propulsion systems meet stringent safety and reliability standards. You will analyze hardware, maintain ESMP, review procedures, and coordinate with regulators to embed safety across the lifecycle.

The role is on-site at Berthoud and Galeton, CO, with occasional overnight shifts and a requirement to obtain a U.S. security clearance. A base compensation range is provided."

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant Systems Engineering or Safety Engineering experience.
• Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. government-issued security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Analyze engineering hardware, schematics for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety compliance.
• Maintain and evolve Ursa Explosive Safety Management Program (ESMP).
• Review system test procedures, operational protocols, and maintenance procedures to ensure safety controls.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to mitigate hazards and embed safety throughout the product lifecycle.
• Coordinate with program management and external regulatory bodies from initiation through production and decommissioning.
• Oversee Ursa Major Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Training program.
