Job summary

Ursa Major in Colorado is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to ensure rocket engines and propulsion systems meet stringent safety standards. You will analyze hardware and schematics for fault tolerance, maintain ESMP, review tests and procedures, and collaborate across engineering teams to embed safety throughout the product lifecycle.

This role requires 8+ years in system or safety engineering, ability to obtain U.S. security clearance, and a STEM degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 8+ years of relevant Systems/Safety Engineering experience.
• Experience in System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Explosive Safety, or related fields.
• Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. government-issued security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Analyze hardware and schematics for fault tolerance and hazards.
• Maintain and evolve ESMP; review test procedures and safety controls.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to embed safety across the lifecycle.
• Coordinate with program management and regulatory bodies from initiation to decommissioning.
• Oversee EHS training and explosives training programs per requirements.
