Job summary

Legion Technical Solutions LLC in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Senior Systems Safety Engineer to support a premier defense customer on 100% onsite work. You will lead MIL-STD-882E system safety programs, perform hazard analyses, and help ensure safety requirements meet stringent military standards throughout the lifecycle.

You will collaborate across Systems, Hardware, Software, Test and Program Management with government safety authorities to obtain and maintain required clearances, ensuring hazards

Qualifications

• We’re looking for hands-on experience in system safety engineering and MIL-STD-882E compliance.
• Experience conducting system and subsystem hazard analyses per MIL-STD-882
• Ability to identify hazards, perform risk assessment, mitigation and tracking
• Knowledge of safety requirements and verification processes
• Familiarity with Safety Review Boards or government safety approvals
• Experience working in aerospace/defense/missile or mission-critical systems
• Demonstrated experience collaborating across multidisciplinary IPTs

Responsibilities

• Lead and support MIL-STD-882E compliant System Safety Programs
• Perform system safety, hazard, and design analyses per MIL-STD-882E or equivalents
• Identify system hazards and work with engineering teams to mitigate or control hazards
• Collaborate across Systems, Hardware, Software, Test, Reliability, and PM
• Interpret requirements, specs, and military standards
• Prepare safety analyses, documentation, and customer-facing reports
• Present safety findings during reviews and safety approval activities
• Work with customer safety representatives and government authorities to obtain safety approvals
• Support programs lifecycle from development to disposal
