Job summary

Anduril Industries, Inc. is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer for its C2 team in the United States. The role focuses on end-to-end safety of AI-enabled, software-defined command and control systems deployed with Army, Navy, Air Force, and MDA customers.

You will own safety analyses, develop evidence packages, and coordinate with program offices to ensure rigorous compliance and safety certifications across diverse configurations and mission scenarios.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of systems safety, systems engineering, or safety-critical software engineering.
• MIL-STD-882 (882E) experience across a defense lifecycle.
• Hands-on experience performing Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and at least two of: FHA, FMEA/FMECA, PHA, SSA, CCA.
• Requirements engineering: decomposition, traceability, verification/validation.
• Experience validating safety and performance requirements via analysis, simulation, HITL/SITL, and field testing.
• Familiarity with government/customer requirements processes and DoD safety reviews.
• Python (and/or MATLAB) for data parsing, modeling, and visualization of safety evidence.
• Proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and communicate findings clearly.
• Comfort with ambiguity, evolving priorities, and challenging problems.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Up to 25% travel to customer sites and test events.

Responsibilities

• Own systems safety end-to-end for C2 software and interfaces with sensors, effectors, and autonomous platforms.
• Lead safety requirements gathering, decomposition, and traceability across teams.
• Validate safety through performance-characterization campaigns using simulated and field data.
• Apply MIL-STD-882E and related safety frameworks across development lifecycle.
• Conduct and document analyses: FHA, FTA, FMEA/FMECA, PHA, SSA, CCA.
• Characterize software-driven safety performance and provide risk mitigation insights.
• Ensure compliance with government requirements; support safety reviews and certifications.
• Develop test plans, acceptance criteria, and analysis tools for safety verification.
• Integrate safety into development lifecycle with algorithm and product teams.
• Develop modeling/simulation frameworks for safety validation.
