Job summary

Anduril Industries in the Boulder/Colorado area seeks a Systems Safety Engineer to own end-to-end safety for C2 software and its interfaces with sensors, effectors, and autonomous platforms. You will lead safety requirements, conduct analyses, and collaborate with hardware, software, and government teams.

You will apply MIL-STD-882E, run FHA/FTA/FMEA, validate performance, and develop artifacts for certification reviews.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of systems safety, systems engineering, or safety-critical software engineering experience.
• Demonstrated MIL-STD-882 (prefer 882E) experience across a defense program lifecycle.
• Hands-on experience with Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and at least two of FHA, FMEA/FMECA, PHA, SSA, CCA.
• Requirements engineering fluency: decomposition, traceability, verification/validation.
• Experience validating safety and performance requirements via analysis, simulation, HITL/SITL, or field testing.
• Familiarity with government/customer requirements processes and DoD program offices.

Responsibilities

• Own systems safety end-to-end for C2 software and interfaces to sensors, effectors, and autonomous platforms.
• Lead safety requirements gathering, decomposition, and traceability across cross-functional teams.
• Validate safety through performance-characterization campaigns using simulated and field data.
• Develop and maintain compliance artifacts for government safety reviews and certifications.
• Create test plans, acceptance criteria, and analysis tools to evaluate safety and performance.
• Integrate safety upfront within the development lifecycle alongside engineers and product teams.
• Develop modeling and simulation frameworks to validate safety-critical algorithmic performance.
