Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Systems Engineer to drive architecture and safety-critical development for the Tactical Recon & Strike division, delivering capabilities for autonomous products such as Altius, Anvil, Bolt and Ghost.

You will coordinate with hardware, software, and test teams, applying rigorous hazard analyses and system-level requirements to ensure reliability and mission readiness in a fast-paced defense environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
• 5+ years experience in defense or safety‑critical industry with safety-critical development standards and verification/validation.
• Experience applying engineering standards to processes.
• Self-starter who owns tasks and risks from start to finish.
• Experience writing verifiable system-level, subsystem-level, and hardware/software requirements.
• Experience performing safety & reliability analyses such as PHAs, SHAs, FMECAs, or FTAs.
• Experience with systems and Python.
• Familiarity with modern software development practices, testing, and release processes.
• Competence with test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers, current probes) and test automation.
• Ability to work in ambiguity, with evolving priorities.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for test field events.
• Eligible to obtain/maintain an active Secret U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Drive systems thinking, processes, and capabilities for core Anduril products such as Altius, Anvil, Bolt, and Ghost.
• Collaborate with product leads to scope, staff, and deliver capabilities to milestones.
• Drive architectural design for safety, reliability, usability, modularity, upgradability, maintainability, and diagnosability.
• Define system and subsystem requirements with risk reduction and verification/validation strategies.
• Lead System Hazard Analyses (SHAs) and FME(C)As to drive safety-centric requirements.
• Coordinate and execute test events from in-lab simulations to flight tests.
• Apply industry standards for safety and interoperability (e.g., STANAG, MIL-STD-882, 464, 331, 1901A, JOTPs).
• Demonstrate ownership and partner with engineers and leaders across the organization.
• Align requirements with the organization’s capability roadmap and drive rapid iteration.
• Identify cross-team dependencies and drive to resolution.
• Lead complex technical initiatives across multiple programs.
