Job summary

Charleston Southern University seeks a Systems Manager to lead the enterprise systems infrastructure and the systems administration team. You will ensure availability, security, performance, and continuous improvement of on‑premises and cloud-based systems, including servers, Microsoft 365, IAM, virtualization, storage, and backup/recovery.

The role reports to IT leadership, supervises staff, and guides infrastructure projects to align with university IT standards and initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years in systems administration and enterprise infrastructure.
• 2+ years supervising technical staff.
• Experience administering Windows Server, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, IAM, MFA.
• Knowledge of security, patching, monitoring, and DR/BCP.
• Strong communication and project leadership.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate systems staff; set priorities and support professional development.
• Oversee administration, security, and performance of enterprise systems (servers, virtualization, storage, cloud).
• Manage Microsoft 365 services, Exchange Online, licensing, security, and collaboration tools.
• Oversee identity and access management (directory services, authentication, MFA, access controls).
• Lead backup, data protection, DR, and business continuity planning/testing.
• Address security risks with monitoring, patching, and change-management practices.
• Plan and oversee infrastructure migrations, upgrades, and technology projects.
• Coordinate with vendors, IT teams, and leadership; maintain technical documentation.
