Job summary

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to create cost-effective solutions for ground and airborne systems. You will lead or support test, integration, and validation activities, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across CONOPS to Verification.

The role requires active SECRET clearance and experience in systems engineering for software, hardware, and firmware development, with onsite work in a defense-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in developing and writing test and integration plans and documents.
• Participation in medium-scale test and integration activities.
• Experience in supporting or leading a team in requirements development and system architecture.
• Proficiency in requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, DNG).
• Knowledge of modeling/simulation tools (e.g., Matlab).
• Understanding of Systems Engineering support for Software, Hardware, and Firmware development.

Responsibilities

• Support or lead development of test & integration plans and procedures.
• Support onsite integration, verification, and validation tasks.
• Support setup of onsite test environments and facilities.
• Support system trade studies, requirements analysis, architecture, and allocation to subsystems.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Manage problems and issues requiring detailed information gathering and investigation.
• Oversee development from CONOPS to Validation.
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert within discipline with advanced knowledge.
• Work autonomously with minimal oversight from manager.
• Coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level professionals.
• Contribute to department goals and planning (cost and schedule).
• Influence decision-makers with recommended actions.
• Influence policies, practices, and procedures.
• Manage moderately sized projects or processes.
• Review major design changes in systems to solve problems.
• Communicate with team members and stakeholders.
• Communicate with customers, vendors, or subcontractors.
• Use advanced knowledge from a degree with professional experience.
