Job summary

Quantum-Si Incorporated is seeking a Senior Systems Integration Scientist to drive integration, characterization, and troubleshooting for Proteus, our next-generation single-molecule protein sequencing platform. You will design and execute system-level studies, investigate surface interactions, and lead cross-functional investigations to improve performance and customer readiness.

The role requires hands-on experimentation, DOE design, and robust data analysis using JMP, Python, R, MATLAB.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, bioengineering, molecular biology, materials science, biophysics, polymer science, analytical chemistry, or related discipline with 3–5 years industry experience; or an M.S./B.S. with substantial equivalent industry experience.
• Strong foundation in protein chemistry, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, surface chemistry, biomaterials, reagent formulation, molecular assays, biosensors, or chip-based assays.
• Experience leading structured root-cause investigations and designing controlled experiments with evidence-based recommendations.
• Experience with design of experiments and statistical analysis using JMP, Python, R, MATLAB, Minitab, or equivalent tools.
• Knowledge of sample/reagent stability, material compatibility, surface interactions, contamination controls, and stability testing.
• Hands-on lab experience with biological samples, reagents, consumables, prototype systems, and automated instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute system-level studies to identify parameters, interaction effects, and variability across samples, reagents, surfaces, consumables, fluids, instruments, and workflows.
• Investigate surface and material interactions affecting loading, immobilization, background, signal quality, and sequencing performance.
• Design and execute stability studies and establish storage/handling recommendations across components and workflows.
• Lead cross-functional investigations and translate observations into focused studies and evidence-based conclusions.
• Develop reproducible experimental protocols, test methods, controls, and acceptance criteria.
• Design V&V, characterization, reliability studies to meet system requirements and communicate results clearly.
