Job summary

Core One is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in Sterling, VA with minimal travel to support client engagements. The role spans on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, focusing on secure network infrastructure, server administration, and automation development. Active TS clearance is required.

You will work within the Strategic Services Division's Engineering Capabilities Group, partnering with software engineers and Field IT staff to safeguard critical operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of relevant experience.
• 5+ years of systems and network engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise routing, switching, and firewall platforms.
• Experience administering Windows and Linux servers and virtualization.
• Cloud networking in AWS or Azure; automation scripting proficiency.
• U.S. Citizen with active Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure across multiple environments.
• Administer physical, virtual, and cloud/server environments with hypervisor management and patching.
• Implement firewall rules, ACLs, and network segmentation; support SOC investigations.
• Develop automation using Python, PowerShell, or Ansible; monitor system health and performance.
• Create SOPs, diagrams, baselines, and troubleshooting guides.
• Collaborate with engineers and staff; provide guidance and training to junior members.
