Job summary

Core One in Sterling, VA is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to own diagnosis through implementation and documentation of enterprise network and systems infrastructure across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.

The role requires a TS clearance and hands-on experience with routing, switching, firewalls, virtualization, and scripting to automate tasks; you will collaborate with software and IT staff in sensitive operating settings. Minimal travel to support client engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or 5+ years of relevant experience in lieu of education.
• 5+ years of relevant systems and network engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting enterprise routing, switching, and firewall platforms.
• Experience administering Windows and Linux server environments and virtualization platforms.
• Working knowledge of cloud networking and hybrid connectivity in AWS or Azure, and scripting for automation and administration.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold an active Top Secret (TS) clearance.

Responsibilities

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Administer physical, virtual, and cloud server environments, including hypervisor management and OS patching.
• Implement and maintain firewall rules, ACLs, and network segmentation; support SOC in security investigations.
• Develop scripts using Python, PowerShell, or Ansible to automate tasks and monitor system health.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, diagrams, baselines, and troubleshooting guides.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers and Field IT staff, providing guidance and cross-training.
