Job summary

Core One Group in Sterling, VA (Washington, DC Metro Area) seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to own diagnosing, implementing, and documenting network and systems infrastructure across on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. You'll collaborate with Software Engineers and Field IT staff, harden systems, and develop automation using Python, PowerShell, or Ansible.

A Top Secret clearance is required. Minimal travel is required to support client engagements.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of relevant experience.
5+ years of systems and network engineering experience.
Experience configuring enterprise routing, switching, and firewall platforms.
Windows and Linux server administration and virtualization experience.
Cloud networking in AWS or Azure and scripting for automation.
U.S. Citizen with active Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure across on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
Administer physical, virtual, and cloud/hybrid servers; manage hypervisor, storage, and connectivity.
Implement firewall rules, ACLs, network segmentation, and support SOC in security events.
Develop automation and monitoring scripts (Python, PowerShell, Ansible).
Develop SOPs, diagrams, baselines, and troubleshooting guides.
Collaborate with software engineers, Field IT staff, and provide guidance to junior staff.
