Job summary

Core One in Sterling, VA is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to own problems from diagnosis through implementation and documentation in on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. You will build, secure, and sustain infrastructure supporting sensitive operations and collaborate with software engineers and field IT staff.

Active Top Secret clearance is required. Minimal travel to support client engagements is expected in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented setting within the Strategic Services Division.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or 5+ years of relevant experience in lieu of education.
• 5+ years of relevant systems and network engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting enterprise routing, switching, and firewall platforms.
• Experience administering Windows and Linux server environments and virtualization platforms.
• Working knowledge of cloud networking and hybrid connectivity in AWS or Azure, with scripting for automation and administration.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold an active Top Secret (TS) clearance.

Responsibilities

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure across on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Administer physical, virtual, and cloud/server environments, including hypervisor management and storage.
• Implement and maintain firewall rules, ACLs, network segmentation, and support SOC investigations.
• Develop scripts and automation using Python, PowerShell, or Ansible; monitor health and performance.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, network diagrams, configuration baselines, and guides.
• Collaborate with software engineers and field IT staff, providing guidance and cross‑training.
