Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer based in the Washington, DC area to support the Virginia Class Submarine Program (PMS450) and Team Submarine initiatives. You will lead system integration, manage requirements, and coordinate with program offices to deliver certified, safe, and effective naval systems.

This role demands active DoD Secret clearance, U.S. citizenship, and 15 years of relevant experience in defense systems.

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret clearance required.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (engineering, physics, etc).
  • High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of experience or an Associate’s degree with 2 years of experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • 15 years of experience in systems engineering or related field.
  • Excellent communications and analytical skills; able to brief program officials and influence actions to meet milestones.
  • Experience briefing senior leaders.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Support NEWCON development and certification activities for Virginia Class Submarines within PMS450.
  • Lead System Integration Team (SIT) coordination across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Manage requirements alignment and ensure consistency across program documentation.
  • Coordinate and support test and evaluation planning and execution.
  • Review engineering deliverables for alignment with requirements, standards, and program expectations.
  • Provide systems engineering analysis and support in coordination with program leadership and the Technical Director.
  • Facilitate communication among stakeholders to align system requirements and integration activities.
  • Interface with PMS450 and related stakeholders for technical inquiries and information exchange.
  • Participate in technical meetings to resolve system integration issues.
  • Support tasking execution, tracking, issue ID, and resolution.
  • Ensure technical documentation follows routing and concurrence processes.
  • Maintain Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) for design certification readiness.
  • Provide support for configuration management and design certification activities.
  • Apply root cause analysis to resolve system-level issues.
  • Present technical summaries and recommendations based on analysis.
