Job summary

Syms Strategic Group is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) for a 100% remote US-based role focused on maintaining and improving complex cloud systems in production environments.

You will work with AWS/Azure, Linux/Windows, scripting, IaC, CI/CD, and security best practices to ensure uptime, reliability, and compliance for critical applications. 8+ years of experience required; Veterans are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in systems engineering or related field, production environment
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and S3, Step Functions, Batch, CloudWatch
• Proficient in Linux/Unix and Windows; scripting for automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
• Experience with IaC and configuration management tools (CloudFormation, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, SaltStack)
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git, and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, AWS CodeBuild/CodeDeploy)
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support for complex cloud systems
• Resolve outages and issues with rapid containment and recovery
• Document problems and communicate status to users and management
• Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams
• Maintain system security, audits, and compliance standards
• Perform maintenance/installation of computing infrastructure
• Participate in on-call rotation and continuous improvement practices
