PhoenixTeam is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to design, implement, and maintain complex systems across federal IT modernization initiatives. This remote role involves providing technical leadership, ensuring reliability, and aligning engineering solutions with mission objectives in regulated environments.

You will design architectures, guide cross-functional teams, and translate requirements into scalable, secure solutions with a focus on performance and security.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in systems engineering or related roles.
• Strong experience with system architecture and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of programming or scripting languages (Python/Java).
• Experience with infrastructure, networking, and system integration.
• Experience in Agile environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IS or related field (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain system architectures across applications, infrastructure, and platforms.
• Provide technical leadership to engineering teams.
• Translate requirements into scalable, secure solutions.
• Ensure performance, reliability, and availability via monitoring and optimization.
• Collaborate with DevOps, security, and stakeholders to align design with business needs.
• Support integration of systems across environments.
• Develop and maintain architecture documentation and specifications.
• Participate in Agile delivery processes and continuous improvement.
