- Compensation: $90,000–$110,000 base
- Schedule: Local WFH / Hybrid – Tuesdays in office; remaining time remote or onsite with clients

Overview
A well-established Managed Service Provider serving SMB clients throughout the DC Metro area is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join its growing engineering team. This is a senior-level, client-facing position focused primarily on hands-on project implementations, cloud migrations, and Tier 3 escalations.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned MSP engineer who can independently implement infrastructure projects across Microsoft cloud, servers, networking, and security while also serving as a senior escalation resource. This position is focused on executing projects rather than selling or scoping them.
Responsibilities
- Lead hands-on technical implementations and infrastructure projects.
- Execute Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud migrations.
- Implement and support Entra ID, Intune, Active Directory, and Windows Server environments.
- Serve as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues.
- Troubleshoot advanced Microsoft 365, Azure, server, networking, firewall, and cybersecurity issues.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement long-term resolutions.
- Lead technical projects from planning through implementation and completion.
- Coordinate with internal engineers, vendors, carriers, and client stakeholders throughout project delivery.
- Perform onsite infrastructure, network, and security assessments.
- Lead technical onboarding activities for new MSP clients.
- Identify infrastructure risks, deficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and standardized client environments.
- Conduct Microsoft 365 security assessments and assist with improving Microsoft Secure Score.
- Implement security best practices and remediation initiatives.
- Assist with cybersecurity incident response when required.
- Support client compliance initiatives involving frameworks such as HIPAA, CMMC, SOC 2, NIST, and CJIS.
- Communicate technical recommendations, project status, and expectations directly with clients.
Technical Qualifications
- 5+ years of engineering experience within an MSP environment.
- Strong experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, and Azure.
- Strong Windows Server and Active Directory administration experience.
- Experience administering and troubleshooting firewalls and network infrastructure.
- Experience supporting multiple client environments simultaneously.
- Strong Tier 3 troubleshooting and escalation experience.
- Experience implementing cloud migrations and infrastructure modernization projects.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
- ConnectWise experience is a plus but not required.
Client-Facing Requirements
- Comfortable working directly with clients onsite throughout the DMV.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical issues and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders.
- Professional and polished client-facing presence.
- Able to work autonomously while still collaborating closely with the engineering team.
- Ability to manage multiple client environments and priorities simultaneously.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client locations throughout the DMV.
