Job summary

Blue Origin in the United States is seeking a senior systems engineer to join the System Definition & Certification team to define requirements, safety, and verification for the Human Landing System. This dual-hatted role focuses on ensuring program technical needs are executed and on supporting the safety baseline for crewed flight.

You will coordinate across vehicle teams, translate needs into clear requirements, and help drive lean, tool-driven processes that make status visible to leadership

Qualifications

• B.S. in aerospace, systems, or related engineering field; an advanced degree may substitute for experience.
• 8+ years of systems engineering/engineering-operations in a technical, regulated environment.
• Experience developing requirements, safety, and V&V baselines in a systems-engineering context.
• Experience planning and executing projects to cost and schedule with cross-team coordination.
• Lean, tool-driven processes adoption without relying on direct authority.
• Proficiency with SE tools (Jama, Cameo, Windchill, DOORS, Jira, Confluence).
• Strong stakeholder management across engineering, program, and leadership levels.
• U.S. citizenship or eligible status per requirements.

Responsibilities

• Participate in requirements, verification & validation planning and anomaly investigation.
• Develop technical requirements translating vehicle needs into clear specifications.
• Develop and refine operational and project-execution processes to improve efficiency.
• Plan and execute major program milestones including readiness criteria and logistics coordination.
• Maintain and improve customer interactions, reviews, and documentation standards for Lunar programs.
• Own technical progress tracking and burndown metrics across the program.
