Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a principal Systems Engineer to lead system-level engineering across requirements, safety, and V&V for the Human Landing System project. You will guide technical standards, verification strategies, and cross-element integration while interfacing with NASA and leadership.

As a senior technical voice, you will set tool and method direction, mentoring engineers and championing lean, tool-driven workflows with Jama, Cameo, Windchill, and DOORS.

Qualifications

• B.S. in aerospace, systems, or related engineering field; an advanced degree may substitute part of experience.
• 10+ years of systems engineering with technical authority across requirements, safety, and V&V.
• Demonstrated ownership across full SE lifecycle with familiarity across multiple functional areas.
• Track record as a go-to technical expert for a major system or program.
• Proven ability to set technical standards and gain adoption across teams.
• Customer-facing technical interface experience (NASA or comparable).
• Fluency with SE tooling Jama, Cameo, Windchill, DOORS; ability to guide tool direction.
• Executive-level communication to senior leadership and external customers.
• Mentoring engineers to higher performance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as principal technical authority for system-level engineering across the team.
• Set standards for requirements decomposition, verification planning, and hazard disposition.
• Resolve high-consequence, cross-cutting technical problems.
• Carry system-level decisions and represent positions to leadership and NASA.
• Define and improve requirements, safety, and V&V processes.
• Act as senior technical interface with NASA on requirements and verification.
• Advise NASA on how Blue Origin meets their needs while staying practical.
• Promote lean, tool-driven workflows (Jama, Cameo, Windchill, DOORS).
• Design lean workflows minimizing hand-offs and data movement.
