Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks a senior Systems Engineer to define requirements and verification baselines for the Human Landing System. You will integrate inputs across vehicle teams, maintain progress and readiness, and drive cost and schedule control in a lean, tool-driven environment.

The role emphasizes requirements, safety, V&V, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering, program, and leadership levels. U.S. citizenship or eligible status is required.

Qualifications

• B.S. in aerospace, systems, or a related engineering field (M.S. preferred); an advanced degree may substitute for a portion of the experience requirement
• 8+ years of relevant systems engineering and/or engineering-operations experience in a technical field with complex regulatory environment
• Experience developing requirements, safety, and V&V baseline in a systems-engineering context
• Experience planning and executing projects to cost and schedule — milestones, risk, and cross-team coordination
• Track record of building lean, tool-driven processes and earning their adoption without relying on direct authority
• Working fluency with SE and program tooling (e.g., Jama, Cameo, Windchill, DOORS, Jira, Confluence) and the judgment to drive tool decisions that reduce manual effort
• Strong stakeholder management skills; comfortable working across engineering, program, and leadership levels
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

• Participate in requirements, verification & validation planning, and anomaly investigation and root-cause analysis
• Review deliverables for flaws and gaps beyond surface correctness
• Develop and translate requirements from ground systems into clear program requirements
• Develop and refine operational and project-execution processes
• Plan and execute major program milestones including CDR, readiness tracking, and scheduling
• Maintain and improve customer interactions, review processes, and documentation standards
• Own technical progress tracking and burndown across the program
