Job summary

Nova Biomedical seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the development, integration and verification of advanced laboratory instrumentation. You will own system requirements, drive architecture decisions and coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Verification teams throughout the lifecycle.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong debugging skills and a passion for reliable product design. Hybrid work in Norwood, MA is offered with a focus on delivery and collaboration.

Qualifications

• 8 years of engineering experience developing complex products or instrumentation systems.
• Proven ability to lead technical investigations from problem identification through resolution.
• Experience with experimental methods to evaluate system performance, reliability, and risk.
• Experience integrating multidisciplinary systems across mechanical, electrical, software, thermal, or fluidic subsystems.
• Ability to translate user needs, design goals, and constraints into engineering requirements and verification approaches.
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead technical workstreams and drive decisions.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across teams.
• Experience supporting products through multiple phases of the lifecycle, including concept to product release.
• Strong systems engineering principles and development processes.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks CAD; GD&T and DFMA desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and integration of subsystems and system-level features for laboratory instrumentation.
• Develop, refine, and maintain system requirements and architecture.
• Design and execute tests to evaluate feasibility and characterize performance.
• Analyze results to identify root causes and reduce risks.
• Document findings through reports and design reviews; support risk management.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across projects.
• Support prototype development and product launch activities.
• Drive investigations to improve robustness and long-term performance.
