Job summary

Nova Biomedical seeks a hands-on Senior Systems Engineer to lead development, integration, characterization and ownership of advanced laboratory instrumentation. You will drive technical investigations, develop system requirements, and collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Verification teams throughout the product lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has strong systems thinking, excellent troubleshooting, and a passion for robust, reliable product development.

Qualifications

8 years of engineering experience developing complex products or instrumentation systems.
Experience leading technical investigations from problem identification through resolution and implementation of corrective actions.
Experience using experimental methods and engineering studies to evaluate system performance, reliability and technical risk.
Experience integrating and troubleshooting multidisciplinary systems involving mechanical, electrical, software, thermal or fluidic subsystems.
Experience translating user needs, design goals and technical constraints into engineering requirements and verification approaches.
Demonstrated ability to independently lead technical workstreams and deliver results with minimal supervision.
Experience mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across functional teams.
Experience supporting products through multiple phases of the product lifecycle including concept development, feasibility, integration, verification and product release.
Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and product development processes.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex multidisciplinary systems and solve poorly defined technical problems through structured root cause investigation.
Experience working with mechanical, thermal, fluidic, electrical or software integrated products.
Strong experimental design and data analysis skills.
Familiarity with CAD tools SolidWorks and GD&T/DFM/ DFA principles is desirable.

Responsibilities

Lead development and integration of complex subsystems and system level features for laboratory instrumentation.
Develop, refine and maintain system and subsystem requirements.
Design and execute experiments, test plans, protocols and engineering studies to evaluate feasibility and characterize system performance.
Analyze results to identify root causes, improve system reliability and retire technical risks.
Support system architecture activities, interface definition, technical trade studies and risk management throughout product development.
Document technical findings through reports, design reviews and engineering documentation.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within assigned project areas.
Support prototype development, integration and troubleshooting activities through Alpha, Beta and product launch.
Drive investigations and engineering activities focused on improving system robustness, reliability and long-term performance.
