Job summary

Nova Biomedical seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the development, integration and verification of advanced laboratory instrumentation. You will own system requirements, drive architecture decisions and coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Verification teams throughout the lifecycle.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong debugging skills and a passion for reliable product design. Hybrid work in Norwood, MA is offered with a focus on delivery and collaboration.

Qualifications

• 8 years of engineering experience developing complex products or instrumentation systems.
• Proven ability to lead technical investigations from problem identification through resolution.
• Experience with experimental methods to evaluate system performance, reliability, and risk.
• Experience integrating multidisciplinary systems across mechanical, electrical, software, thermal, or fluidic subsystems.
• Ability to translate user needs, design goals, and constraints into engineering requirements and verification approaches.
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead technical workstreams and drive decisions.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across teams.
• Experience supporting products through multiple phases of the lifecycle, including concept to product release.
• Strong systems engineering principles and development processes.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks CAD; GD&T and DFMA desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and integration of complex subsystems and system level features for laboratory instrumentation
• Develop refine and maintain system and subsystem requirements
• Design and execute experiments test plans protocols and engineering studies to evaluate feasibility and characterize system performance
• Analyze results to identify root causes improve system reliability and retire technical risks
• Support system architecture activities interface definition technical trade studies and risk management throughout product development
• Document technical findings through reports design reviews and engineering documentation
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within assigned project areas
• Support prototype development integration and troubleshooting activities through Alpha Beta and product launch
• Drive investigations and engineering activities focused on improving system robustness reliability and long term performance

Experience Requirements

• 8 years of engineering experience developing complex products or instrumentation systems
• Demonstrated success leading technical investigations from problem identification through resolution and implementation of corrective actions
• Experience using experimental methods and engineering studies to evaluate system performance reliability and technical risk
• Experience integrating and troubleshooting multidisciplinary systems involving mechanical electrical software thermal or fluidic subsystems
• Experience translating user needs design goals and technical constraints into engineering requirements and verification approaches
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead technical workstreams drive technical decisions and deliver results with minimal supervision
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across functional teams
• Experience supporting products through multiple phases of the product lifecycle including concept development feasibility integration verification and product release
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and product development processes
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex multidisciplinary systems and solve poorly defined technical problems through structured root cause investigation
• Experience working with mechanical thermal fluidic electrical or software integrated products
• Strong experimental design and data analysis skills
• Proficiency with engineering analysis tools such as Excel Minitab MATLAB Python or equivalent
• Familiarity with requirements management risk management and verification methodologies
• Ability to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary technical teams
• Experience working in laboratory or regulated product development environments is preferred
• Working knowledge of CAD tools SolidWorks preferred with the ability to develop test fixtures prototype components and engineering concepts
• Familiarity with GD&T and DFMDFA principles is desirable
