Job summary

The SAIC Air Force, Space & Intelligence Business Group seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to support JCSE modernization at MacDill AFB, Tampa, FL. You will lead design, documentation, and security control implementation across physical and logical architectures, interfacing with Government stakeholders and JCSE teams.

You will assess technologies, produce COAs, maintain artifacts, and ensure CM and security requirements are met, including on-call readiness and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• BS degree + 10+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
• DoD Secret clearance or higher.
• IAT Level II certifications: Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP.
• CE certification in networking/defense or related areas (Splunk, Cisco, McAfee, etc.).
• Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016.
• Experience with Azure or AWS Cloud Environments.
• Experience with Linux and production environments.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; on-call capable.
• Excellent written and oral communication; LDAP, Kerberos, AD knowledge.
• Storage systems knowledge (SAN/NAS).
• Desirable: MCP, CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+, AWS, Azure.

Responsibilities

• Conduct continuous technology assessments and market surveys to identify COTS and GOTS solutions applicable to JCSE modernization requirements.
• Conduct Analyses of Alternatives (AoA) evaluating security posture, SWaP, and edge suitability; document trade-offs.
• Develop and present Design COAs to the Government; document analyses and recommendations.
• Develop and document both Physical and Logical Architecture Diagrams; define interfaces and responsibilities.
• Maintain design docs in a Government-approved repo; update per CM process.
• Coordinate with JCSE Modernization leads to align designs with concepts and mission needs.
• Develop and maintain design documentation for all systems within scope.
• Produce and manage ICDs for integration points between JCSE systems and external interfaces.
• Update design docs and interface specs for approved changes.
• Ensure artifacts are version-controlled in the approved CM tool.
• Implement security controls IAW NIST, DODI 8500.01/8510.01, and USTRANSCOM/JCSE guidance.
• Assess and document security control implementation at sprint boundaries and MVP gates.
• Deliver and integrate NetSecOps platforms; prioritize enterprise tools over custom development.
• Provide cybersecurity expertise to support integration and validation within the JCSE lab.
