Job summary

G2IT is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the JCSE Modernization Division at MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL. The role focuses on modernizing DoD infrastructure, systems, and applications, with emphasis on cybersecurity, cloud environments, and architecture design.

The candidate will independently manage complex technical responsibilities, collaborate with government stakeholders, and guide junior team members in a mission-focused setting.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of IT or systems engineering experience required.
• Active DoD Secret clearance or higher required.
• Active DoD IAT Level II certification required (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, GSEC).
• CE certification or certificate relevant to network infrastructure, cybersecurity, or OS (e.g., Cisco, Splunk, Microsoft, Linux).
• Experience with Windows Server environments (2012/2016).
• Experience with Microsoft Azure or AWS cloud environments.
• Knowledge of Active Directory/LDAP/Kerberos/auth protocols.
• Understanding of SAN/NAS storage technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting and systems integration skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate COTS and GOTS solutions for JCSE modernization.
• Perform AoA analyses evaluating security, SWaP, and operational suitability.
• Develop and present COAs to government stakeholders.
• Design, develop, and maintain infrastructure and software architecture diagrams.
• Create ICDs and system design documentation; manage configuration records.
• Coordinate with JCSE leadership to meet mission requirements.
• Implement cybersecurity controls per NIST/DoD guidance.
• Support NetSecOps platforms and enterprise security tools.
• Provide testing support for new capabilities in labs and production.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues to maintain operations.
• Provide technical leadership to junior engineers.
