Job summary

SENS, based in Longmont, CO, seeks an experienced Senior Systems Engineer with a strong product compliance focus to translate customer, regulatory, and internal needs into clear system requirements, architectures, verification plans, and compliant product designs.

The Senior Systems Engineer will contribute across the full product lifecycle and work with hardware, software, manufacturing, sales, and certification partners to ensure products are reliable, manufacturable, certifiable, and clearly

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or systems engineering or closely related field.
• 5+ years in systems engineering, product engineering, regulatory compliance, or certification for hardware products.
• Experience delivering hardware products to market.
• Strong understanding of AC/DC power, circuit protection, wiring, and industrial power products.
• Experience translating customer and regulatory needs into requirements and verification plans.
• Familiarity with safety, EMC, performance, and environmental standards (NFPA 70).
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Customer-focused with emphasis on product quality and engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Translate high-level needs into system-level specifications and verification criteria.
• Develop and maintain validation and compliance test matrices.
• Identify risks and help develop mitigation plans to reduce impact on schedule, cost, and certification.
• Interpret and apply safety, EMC, performance, and environmental standards to designs.
• Provide compliance design requirements (creepage, clearance, hipot, thermal limits, enclosures).
• Coordinate submittals, testing, and reports with UL, ABS, CE, and other bodies.
• Define traceability between requirements, design, obligations, and verification.
