Job summary

AV is seeking a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer to collaborate with the Design team on a variety of unmanned systems for defense and commercial use.

You will work with Controls Engineers to allocate requirements and develop architectures supporting simulation models. You will participate in requirements definition, concept design, prototyping, detailed design, and verification testing across multiple product teams, often in fast-paced environments, while mentoring others in the discipline and company

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in a relevant engineering field required.
• 12–15 years in a systems engineering role, aerospace preferred.
• Proficiency with C/C++ and MATLAB.
• Experience with requirements traceability through the system development cycle.
• Experience delivering weekly status on progress with burn down.
• Developed system test plans, procedures and reports.
• Experience writing Systems Safety protocols for field testing.
• Strong MATLAB skills and familiarity with office tools.
• Knowledge of image collection and analysis electronics.
• Ability to architect with Model Based Engineering tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee requirements traceability and evolution through the system development cycle.
• Provide weekly status of system development progress with requirements burn down.
• Allocate requirements to subsystem & engineering coordination.
• Evaluate system performance thresholds and provide direction.
• Develop instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisition.
• Provide input for model development and simulation analysis.
• Develop systems test plans, procedures and reports.
• Review and interpret customer specifications effectively.
• Identify and resolve system design weaknesses; influence framework across products.
• Work independently on new or special assignments.
