Job summary

AeroVironment in California is seeking a Senior Staff Systems Engineer to join our design team in developing unmanned systems for defense and commercial applications. Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
• 12–15 years in a systems engineering role, aerospace preferred.
• Proficiency with C/C++ and Matlab.
• Experience with requirements traceability and system development lifecycle.
• Experience writing system safety protocols for field testing.
• Strong Matlab skills and familiarity with office software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee requirements traceability and evolution through the system development cycle.
• Provide weekly status of system development progress with requirements burn down.
• Allocate requirements to subsystem & engineering coordination.
• Evaluate system performance thresholds and provide direction.
• Develop instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisition.
• Provide input for model development and simulation analysis.
• Develop systems test plans, procedures and reports.
• Review and interpret customer specifications effectively.
• Identify and resolve design weaknesses and influence architecture across products.
• Work independently on new or special assignments.
• Mentor others in discipline and company values.
