Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer to collaborate with the Design team on unmanned systems for defense and commercial use. The role emphasizes requirements traceability, system development, and cross-functional coordination.

Ideal candidates will have 12–15 years in systems engineering (aerospace preferred), strong Matlab and C/C++ skills, and experience with Model Based Engineering tools. ITAR compliance and security clearances may apply.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering required or equivalent.
12–15 years of experience in a systems engineering role, aerospace preferred.
Proficiency with C/C++ and Matlab.
Experience managing requirements traceability through the system development cycle.
Experience providing weekly status on system development progress.

Responsibilities

Oversee requirements traceability and evolution through the system development cycle.
Provide weekly status of system development progress with requirements burn down.
Allocate requirements to subsystem and engineering coordination.
Evaluate system performance thresholds and provide direction.
Develop instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisition.
Provide input for model development and simulation analysis.
Develop systems test plans, procedures and reports.
Review and interpret customer specifications effectively.
Identify, analyze and resolve system design weaknesses.
Influence future product architecture across multiple products or systems.
Work independently on new or special assignments; mentor others.
