Job summary

AV is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer to work with the Design team on unmanned systems for defense and commercial applications. You will interact with Controls Engineers to allocate requirements and develop architectures for simulation models, spanning requirements definition to verification testing.

The role calls for strong Matlab and C/C++ skills, hands-on modeling, and collaboration across small design teams to deliver robust architectures and validated designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.
• 8–12 years of experience in a systems engineering role (Aerospace systems engineering preferred).
• Managed requirements traceability and evolution through the system development cycle.
• Strong Matlab skills and proficiency with office software and productivity tools.
• Familiarity with electronics and systems related to image collection and analysis.
• Development of system test plans, procedures and reports; reviewed specifications.

Responsibilities

• Manage requirements traceability and evolution through the system development cycle
• Provide weekly status of system development progress with requirements burn down
• Allocate requirements to subsystem & engineering coordination
• Evaluate system performance thresholds and providing direction
• Develop instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisition
• Provide input for model development and simulation analysis
• Review and interpret customer specifications effectively
• Identify and resolve system design weaknesses; influence future product architecture
• Lead complex analyses and select methods for results
• Determine methods and procedures on new assignments and coordinate team activities
• Other duties as assigned
