Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Systems Architect – Senior Member of Technical Staff in the Enterprise Systems Engineering / Architect Advancement Section. This in-person role requires onsite work at one of Aerospace’s campuses in Chantilly, VA for most of the week.

You will lead architecture studies, apply MBSE methods, and collaborate with program offices and partners to inform acquisition and operations decisions while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• PhD in engineering, science, or related technical field (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
• 0-1 year of industry experience
• Experience/coursework/projects in system or enterprise architecting, systems engineering, concept design, and/or model-based systems engineering
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presenting methods and results in briefings, formal reports, and informal communications
• Excellent interpersonal and networking skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
• Ability to learn new skills and acquire knowledge through self-study and mentorship
• Available and willing to travel domestically and internationally approx. 5-10%
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance; U.S. citizenship required
• Transcripts required for this position

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in architecture studies of varying system complexity with multi-disciplinary teams
• Apply and develop disciplined system architecting methods, processes, and tools
• Use and integrate analytical methods to evaluate architectural concepts for cost, schedule, performance and risk
• Utilize MBSE and digital engineering capabilities
• Coordinate with program offices, customers, and contractors; mentor junior staff
• Collaborate with Aerospace personnel to enable concurrent engineering
