Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA is seeking a System Architect - Senior Member of Technical Staff to lead architecture trade studies and MBSE efforts across space programs. This in-person role requires deep expertise in concept design, architecture modeling, and cross-functional leadership within a demanding defense and space domain.

You will collaborate with program offices and customers, travel domestically and internationally, and pursue a TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• PhD in mechanical engineering, systems engineering, science, or related field (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
• 0-1 year of industry experience
• Prior internship with The Aerospace Corporation
• Experience in system or enterprise architecting, systems engineering, concept design, and/or model-based systems engineering
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally approx. 5-10%
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance; US citizenship is required
• Transcripts required

Responsibilities

• Lead as a key contributor in the CDC System Architecture Team for mission concept design and architecture-level trade studies
• Apply disciplined architecting methods and MBSE to design activities
• Collaborate to implement MBSE and digital engineering capabilities
• Use analytical methods to evaluate concepts for cost, schedule, performance, and risk
• Inform decisions with expertise in space and defense domains
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to address complex problems
• Elicit needs and plan studies with program offices and customers
